UNSAFE SURVEILLANCE
speculation, brooklyn

After September 11th, New Yorkers are searching for expressions of safety while not much can be done in reactions to terrorist threats. Architecture is desperately trying to mediate a growing demand for surveillance with the respect of basic individual rights. Security through physical borders is replaced by a field of cameras and screens, opening up forgotten territories and inviting the public to take control of big brother.
